Well, this morning the corn managed to almost completely obliterate the view of the houses. It's tasseling, too. It's hard to see with the sky so white from the sun, but maybe the tassels (yellow shoots on the top) show better enlarged. In these pictures, you can really see the difference between the north side of the road where the sun is in my face, and the south side where it's behind me.
The Ditch
Whatever that is in the field is growing slowly, but growing. I think it's soybeans.
The North Swamp
The South Swamp--water looks quite a bit lower here.
Every week I see something I've never seen before. This week as I was walking by the cornfield, I kept seeing this little yellowish, shiny things that looked like little shells. I was trying to figure out why there would be shells in the road. So, I bent over and looked at them, and they were indeed little, empty shells, and then I saw this one--a tiny little snail, moving along at something a bit faster than a snail's pace. You can probably see it more clearly in the enlargement, but the phone camera doesn't take good close-ups. It's about 1/3".
Last week I took a picture of this field which is next to the ditch because I thought the flowers were pretty.
This week it looked like this.
